Not So Normal Skate Company

Brand Identity and Packaging Design
Project Overview
The objective of this project is to create a steady and compelling visual brand identity. This brand should capture the intended vision and values of the company while simultaneously reaching the desired target audience.
My Contributions
Not So Normal (NSN) is a company that manufactures wheels for skateboards. As the sole designer tasked with creating this visual brand identity, I was tested with many different tasks that strengthened my knowledge on the design principles and expanded my experience. From designing a unique icon that became the letter mark. I was able to create an identity for NSN in the form of a logo. I also utilized my knowledge of typography to construct a strong advertising layout in a magazine that captures my intended target audience. To receive the full experience I created a physical and digital prototype to house the product from the company. This project strengthened my typography skills, understanding of color theory, and my ability to complete the conceptual development phase while using design principles. I was able to capture the company vision and values that would reach the intended ranged targeted audience.
Illustrator/Photoshop
Brand Designer
Apr 2019 - Jun 2019
I was given the opportunity to build a company's visual identity from scratch. I executed the overall project by expanding my skills in various tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. I was able to create an impactful and inviting concept behind NSN that helped make the brand feel personal and easily attainable to the target audience. Not So Normal focuses on creating encouraging and supportive skate communities that spread positivity and end in friendships. NSN’s mission is to make sure no individual feels unincluded or left behind.

From this concept, the logo became the foundation to the style, color, typography, and iconography that was going to identify the brand. After creating a strong, recognizable logo that could be used to identify people in the Not So Normal family, I began creating mockups for advertising the product through a strong layout and composition for skate magazines. Finally I worked to create a physical and digital mock up of product packaging for Not So Normal skate wheels to be packaged. Using Photoshop to make a prototype showcasing the box size and packaging style for the product.
